Data Cleansing Solution locked

Hi Experts,

 

I'm currently performing a Data Health Check (DHC) for a German customer.

Within that DHC I want to use the Data Cleansing Advisor (DCA) for address cleansing and matching. But unfortunately I have some problems with that.

 

In my environment the repositories for IPS, DS and IS were created in a MS SQL Server database. The embedded SQL Anywhere database wasn't installed.

But I found out that the staging database for the DCA is - nevertheless - a SQL Anywhere database (located under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObject Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\Data as DCA.db).

 

Before I started that database (using dbsrv12.exe from the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinesObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\bin64) I got the error message "Unable to access staging tables for cleanse operation" when creating a Data Cleansing solution (seems to be the same as in SAP note 2143417 even if I'm using IS version 4.2 SP04 - unfortunately no solution is provided in the note).

 

After I started the SQL Anywhere database on Friday I was able to create a Data Cleansing solution and analyze the results.

On Monday I wanted to refine the Data Cleansing solution but I saw that its status in IS is "locked" and I'm neither no longer able to open the existing Data Cleansing solution nor create a new one (for a new one I got again the error message "Unable to access staging tables for cleansing solution" ).

 

I even upgraded the environment to IS version 4.2 SP05 but the Data Cleansing solution is still locked.

 

Can you tell me what I can do to unlock the existing Data Cleansing solution?

Btw: in my environments (IS version 4.2 SP04 and IS version 4.2 SP05) there is no "unlock" option available --> see attached screen shot

And I used the administrator user so that I don't assume that it is an authorization problem.

 

Can you tell me which user name and password is used for the Data Cleansing Advisor SQL Anywhere database?

I would like to analyze that database but for that I need the user name and password which must be set in the background during the installation.

 

Is it possible to "switch" the DCA database to another database server (e.g. MS SQL Server)?

How can I do that?

 

Since the DHC is very urgent I would appreciate a quick response.

Error while running profiling in Information Steward

I followed the steps in the scn (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/10538fce-4b42-2e10-0fb1-a2146dc20943&overridelayout=true) to setup profile but encountered the following error while trying to execute it:

 

"A system error occurred. Contact the administrator if the error persists (UIM-10142). "

 

We tried checking on the "Download Log File" button but it generates message saying "Log file is not available".

 

We tried checking in directory "E:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging" but couldn't find any related error.

 

Could you please help to provide recommendations and approach to resolve this problem?

Installation of IS 4.1 SP1 in distributed environment

Hello,

 

My server landsacpe is as below -

 

Server 1 - BOE 4.0 SP4, DS 4.1 SP1 APS services, DS 4.1 SP1Management Console 

Server 2 - Full DS 4.1 SP1 install

Server 3 - MS Sql server dataase

 

I was expecting to do a "Primary" install on Server 2 so that all my EIM components reside on the same box along with DQ cleansing packages, but since it does not have any BI or IPS installed, install is getting errored out. I really doesn't want to do primary install of IS on Server 1, becasue that will also require installing DS 4.1 SP1 Job server component on that server.

 

So what are my options in this case?

Data Services and Information Steward Relationship

I am new to Information Steward. I am trying to understand whether
SAP Business Objects data services part of Information Steward or not?

 

 

 

 

 

When I read documentation on Data Services it seems it
includes similar things as Information Steward for quality management. Looks
like, at some point SAP decided to make a new product called Information Steward?
Is it correct, so what is in Information Steward that is not in Data Services
and same the other way (what is in Data Services which is not in Information
Steward). My company is going to set Information Steward next year, want to get
an idea what it covers?

Error while running task on ECC table

Hello,

 

When ever i run a (profile/rule) task on any table from ECC in Information Steward, it's failing and is generating an error log as shown below. But, i am able to view data when i click on "View data" icon after selecting the imported table.

 

error: Data flow <DF_Rule_NP_142_1> received a bad system message. Message text from the child process is <￯﾿ﾘ￯ﾾﾮC￯﾿ﾷR&#127;==========================================================

Collect the following and send to Customer Support:

1. Log files(error_*, monitor_*, trace_*) associated with this failed job.

2. Exported ATL file of this failed job.

3. DDL statements of tables referenced in this failed job.

4. Data to populate the tables referenced in the failed job. If not possible, get the last few rows (or sample of them) when the job failed.

5. Core dump, if any, generated from this failed job.

Did anyone face the similar issue? if yes, could you help me by providing some inputs to resolve this.

SAP IS Option : for getting more than 500 rows in output

Folks, Can anyone tell me if there is a work around to get more than 5oo output/failed rows in IS for Data insight ( Data Quality & Profiling )  ??

 

Is there some setting we need to perform in CMC or probablly if some patch deployment needed  ?

Account Aging in Information Steward

Hi All,

 

We'd like to use Information Steward to evaluate the age of our accounts. We want to identify those that haven't been used for several years so we can close them out. Doesn't seem like this is possible with IS. Has anyone on the forum been able to do this type of analysis in IS? Is it possible with Data Services or another SAP tool?

Unexpected Error in Match Review after Installing 4.2 Support Pack 1 Patch 4 (Version 14.2.1.700)

We installed 4.2 Support Pack 1 Patch 4, in order to fix this Match Review Error:

Now, we cannot open any tasks that were created before the Patch was installed. When I try to open any Match Group List the following error occurs:

Is there a way to solve for this error?  We want to run this patch in the production environment, but it will cause major problems if we have to abandon all of our previous Match Review tasks.

How to set-up Information Steward for SSO based on SAP authentication?

Hi experts,

 

I’m currently involved in a project where Information Steward is implemented.

One requirement is Single-Sign-On (SSO) for Information Steward based on SAP authentication.

 

What we did so far:

1. We configured the SAP authentication in the CMC:

a. We defined and connected to the SAP entitlement system

b. We defined that system as the default system and enabled SAP authentication

c. We imported all roles from the SAP system

d. We scheduled the user update (updating roles and aliases on a daily basis)

e. We generated a keystore file, exported the public key certificate and imported the certificate file to the SAP system

f. We also set up single sign-on to the SAP database in the CMC

g. And we added the Security Token Service to the Adaptive Processing Server and the EIM Adaptive Processing Server

 

2. We managed Users in the CMC:

a. We added one of the imported aliases to the group Data Insight Administrator

b. The user was able to log on to Information Steward with his SAP credentials

 

3. Then we configured Tomcat for SSO:

a. We copied the global.properties and ICCExplorer.properties files from D:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\default to D:\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom

b. We changed / added the following settings (in the custom folder):

i. global.properties file

1. trusted.auth.user.namespace.enabled=false

2. trusted.auth.user.param=iv-user

3. trusted.auth.user.retrieval=HTTP_HEADER

4. sso.types.and.order=sapSSO

5. sso.enabled=true

ii. ICCExplorer.properties file

1. disable.locale.preference=true

2. authentication.default=secSAPR3

3. cms.default=:6400

c. afterwards we rebooted the whole server

 

Finally I (as an external user without an SAP user in the entitlement system defined above, but with a CMC user with Enterprise authentication) am able to automatically log-in to Information Steward (I just enter the URL for IS in the browser and I‘m automatically logged in to IS).

 

But the internal user (the one who successfully tested the logon to IS with his SAP credentials as mentioned above) gets an error message whenever he wants to start IS (see attached screen shot for the displyed error).

In the InformationSteward.Explorer.log file (under D:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging ) we can see the following error messages:

For me it seems as if still the Enterprise authentication is used even though we defined SAP authentication as the default (“authentication.default=secSAPR3” in the ICCExplorer.properties file).

 

What did we miss? Or what did we wrong?

Export & Import Content

Hello,

 

Is there a way to export & import the content at one short from one system to another for the following items. I'm aware of exporting and importing the rules not sure the below. Please note, due to some reason am not able to use the Promotion Management to promote the objects, Is there any better way of moving the below items to another system??

  • Rules

Information Steward Repository could not be initialized

Hi Expert,

I am getting below error while login in IS:
Information Steward Repository could not be initialized (Cannot connect to the Information Steward repository. (COR-10126)). Contact the administrator. (ADM-10034)

I am using Administrator login to log in to IS which has all the rights.
I have already configured Job server with IS repository and it is in running status.

However,
when I checked in CMC: 
Application -> IS ->Configure Repository :: It is having correct details and saving without any error.
Application -> IS -> View DataServices Job Server :: It is throwing me below error while clicking.

Information Steward Repository could not be initialized (Cannot connect to the Information Steward repository. (COR-10126)). Contact the administrator. (ADM-10034)  
There is no job server available. (ADM-10032)

Is there any place in CMC where I have to register jobserver?

My IS was working fine few days back but suddenly stopped working so I am assuming that some services are not started hence giving error. 
Please help.

couln't able to add information steward repository to job server

Hi ,

 

I Installed the Information Steward in my system .  I couldn't able to add Information Steward repository to job server .  It is showing it is not valid repository.   I have checked the database  and  repository tables are created in the specified database. Please find the attached error screenshot for error .

 

In the CMC applications- Information Steward --- View Data Services Job Server showing http error as attached word document.

 

Please help me how to resolve this issue.

Deployment scenarios for Information Steward

Hello Experts,

 

I have little confusion about Information Steward Deployment on a separate machine.

 

We are going to use heavy data profiling in Information Steward, so decided I will install Data Services Job server on separate machine. Here is my confusion.

 

Let's say I have Business Objects installed on Machine A, Data Services installed on Machine B, plan to install Information Steward all the components on Machine B and only install Data Services Job Server on Machine C.

 

I don't have Business Objects installed on Machine B, can I install IPS on Machine B to avoid prerequisite failed check but want to reference to CMS on machine A while installing Information Steward? is possible- will I be able to leverage Lineage Analysis if I install Information Steward on Seprate machine.

 

 

What would be the best deployment scenario do you think I can use.

Information Steward access to SLT schema for temp tables

I have a colleague working on an Information Steward proof of concept for pulling master data from HANA.  He asked me to setup a HANA user for Information Steward to connect and read from our default schema that contains all tables replicated from SAP via SLT.  Let's call this SAP_SCHEMA.  Let's call the Information Steward user and schema INFO_STEWARD.  The INFO_STEWARD user has full access to it's own INFO_STEWARD schema and I also gave him SELECT_USER role against the SLT schema named SAP_SCHEMA.  But when they run their job they get error that they can not CREATE temporary table against SAP_SCHEMA.

 

Normally we never allow any user except SLT user to create tables in the SAP_SCHEMA.  All users have SELECT only.  But as a test I humored him and gave POWER_USER role against SAP_SCHEMA, had him run his load job and then I monitored M_TEMPORARY_TABLES.  Suddenly his job started working and I watched 500+ temporary tables fill up M_TEMPORARY_TABLES, however they all listed the temp table schema as INFO_STEWARD schema.  So I'm completely puzzled; if all the temp tables are created in it's own INFO_STEWARD schema then why does it need CREATE against SAP_SCHEMA??  My only theory is that it truly created a single temp table in SAP_SCHEMA but it happened and dropped so fast that I could not see it with my own eyes.  Whereas the other 500+ I could see sitting there for several minutes before they were dropped.

 

Are there any Information Steward users out there whom can explain to me why it would need CREATE against the SLT schema where our source tables live?  I'm hoping it's some sort of configuration problem on the Information Steward side as we do not want to doll out create access.  Other system users we have such as MicroStrategy only have read access to the SLT schema and create temp tables fine in their own MicroStrategy schema.

BOIS and BW Connection

Dear Experts,

 

 

Background

BW system is our a single source for data from different legacy and SAP system and therefore we are planning to use BW as staging database for DQ activities. 

What we have done

     1) Created an RFC connection between SAP BW and BOIS

Authorization for the RFC user is SAP_ALL

Issue

   When browsing through table option in Data Insight module of BOIS we are only able to see few folders in extractors but not ay tables

 

Could anyone let us know how to overcome above issue and also if anyone has followed BW as staging database for BOIS any challenges faced

Interface between SAP ECC and SAP BOIS

Hi,

 

I am new to SAP business object information stewart. I understand that it's used for data quality monitoring/governance. Can anyone through some light

on how SAP ECC interacts with SAP BOIS? (Interface between these two, how the data transfer between etc). Also want to know is this applicaion resides inside ECC or is it a separate SAP application like APO,CRM etc...
